Provisioning our community
Our motivation
We want to share the joy of tending to the lives of animals and living close to the land with you. We care an awful lot about how our animals live and how the gifts they give us are utilized. We honor their lives in the work that we do and the products we get to share with you. We hope to join you in doing the same for your own animals and land as well.
Our world needs caretakers of the biotic community — humans, animals, plants, soil, water and air. It’s all in our name:
Stewardship: caring for what is not ours, as if it was. With professional training in medicine and hydrogeology, we care deeply about the health of our animals, soils, water and community.
Provision: supplying the basic needs of our community by partnering and cultivating soil-water-plant-animal relationships.
Beautiful things otherwise wasted
Hides are a “byproduct” of the meat industry and are typically discarded. We want to support farmers and meat processors in changing that. The wool and leather from sheep bring beauty and warmth into our community and homes. It is durable, versatile, and in many ways more sustainable than other fibers or cloths. We take pride in the methods and materials of tanning and believe the how is just as important as the what.
Provisions from the flock
Check out our shop to view the current selection of leather products, sheepskins, yarn and other products from our flock and tannery.
Hide Tanning Services
Learn more about our process and pricing for tanning services. We’d love to work with you to find how best to utilize the hides from your animals. Whether you have gorgeous fleeces or hair sheep, we can find a way to honor their life and your hard work.
Meat Products
We love cooking our lamb and chicken and would love to share some with you. Each item is prepared with great affection with the hope of a nourishing meal shared and enjoyed.
Stewarding the land with us
Have land but no time or inclination? We would love to discuss opportunities to care for your land while producing products for our community. If you have “unused” acreage we can discuss seasonal or periodic rotations of farm animals to help manage your space for greater health, beauty and diversity.
